Phil passed away in December>RIP! Here's a video I came across of him.I thoght I would sharehttps://www.youtube.com/watch
Friday I was bored and was surfing the internet. I ran Phil Sauers name and saw one of his surfboards and followed the link to ebay and I found this pictures of my merc when it was white and slightly modified and the accident.Phil passed away in December and someone bought his storage locker and was auctioning off his memrobilia and I won the pic's.As soon as I get them I'll post. Here's a teaser from the auction site.
Found out Pops Proctor the worlds oldest surfer who taught Phil to surf worked as a mechanic a Shell Station on Slauson in LA.He was also a life guard at Doheny Beach. I recently acquired some photos of Phils car before the accident and of Phils wrecked car mentioned in the article.
Wondering if Phils car is parked at Pops place after the accident before Dean Jeffries rebuilt it again?
I got a message from the person on ebay I bought pictures of Phils Merc Shasta from. She also has Phils journal from when he was lost at sea for 71 days. Here's what she sent that was written in his journal: I’m reading Phil’s journal while lost at sea and he just mentioned Shasta. So thought I’d share. He is writing about what he is missing and thinking about. “A kid mowing the lawn while his dad waxes the car. I want to live!!! As I sit here I see people and places. The evangelistic taberaacle. The Maywood Babtist. Yes old 5921 Templeton st., My car Shasta.”
Looks like the front bumper was not even touched in the accident. I wonder if it’s the same one today? Is there any sigh of the old accident?
I never thought about that!I'll have to look more closely. I did see some signs of the accident on the frame?repairs.
Super cool history! I’d have to restore it though, the car deserves better for surviving all those years.
