They're double sump. The 1 in front isn't all that big, but big enough to need a drain plug. Know of one person who pulled the front drain plug only & was wondering why he had so much oil in his engine!:p

    With the I6 a 81/4 Mopar or 8" Ford would be plenty. I saw a line of Volare/Aspens in a junkyard once. The 225/sticks had 81/4 & the 318/904s had 71/4!

my old 47 Dodge would do 95 mph. oh, with dual pipes. my 35 plymouth would do only 80.

I have a better one George, my 1979 W-150 has a 8.25 out back. Granted, with 235K original miles it is tired, but not yet broken.

    What engine? I was suprised a 6 & manual would get a stronger axle than a 318 & auto.

Sorry George, I really wasn't ignoring the question, I just lost track of the thread......318 w/TF

I agree, it seems odd that the 6 would have a larger axle in the cars.

Easy to do!:) I'm thinking that they expect people to wind up the engine & drop the clutch putting more..shock? Snap? Twist? to the axle than a automatic, therefore needing the bigger alxe vs the 318/904 equipped car.
