Ok, quick question. I reciently bought a 1951 burb. The PO had done a camaro front clip. When I got under it and checked everything out. It is suspect at best. The welding looks like a valcano melted lava over the frame. the old battery cables (on the frame) were stuck between the two pieces. There are also a few places where angle iron /bolts were used to mate the two. So I have decided to get another frame. I have located a frame from a 1/2 ton short bed. Its my understanding the two are the same except the body mounts . Is there anything else I need to look for? I am learning as I go.
I pulled one out of a more than crusty burb that I drug home about 15 or so years ago and think it was pretty well the same except for the burb only mounts.
Why not just reclip it? With an S-10 clip and do it right. Or you could put a pinto frontend in it like all the sheep do -Shiny
In a bit late, but yes there are differences in the body mounts but you existing frame should still have them. There is a mount behind the frt door that look like the frt body mount but smaller, then an angled bracket in front the rear shock mount held on by 2 bolts. The "middle" mounts behind the front door are shackles on the trucks, the suburban bracket locates off of one the running board mounts. Images for reference
