when I activate the wipers in my 1951 ford, they go up VERY slowly, but do not go down unless I turn them off. I do have a double action fuel pump in it that was rebuilt a long time ago... anyone know why this could be happening? Thanks!

make sure you have the vacuum line on the proper port, next to the valve and not at the bottom (that's a port for air intake). they do get sticky over time; you can revive the leather seals by putting a few drops of ATF on them and letting it soak in. the pivots also get tight from dried up grease; a few drops of light oil on those might help.

Here is how to service the Trico wiper motor.

If it doesn't work rebuilt units are available for $185. Pricy but easier than changing to electric. If the vacuum wiper is working correctly you won't need to go electric especially as you have the booster pump.
