I have a 52 Chevy 1/2 ton truck with a 216 engine. I want to check if the fuel pump is working properly. Can anyone tell me how much pressure the pump should produce when I turn it over? Or, I would appreciate any other ideas to see if the pump is working. Thanks. Bob

doesn't need much pressure, disconnect the fuel line, put it into a bucket, spin it for 10-15 seconds, see if you have gas coming out. I'd bet the tank has **** in it, do you run a pre-filter?

The shop manual states pressure should be 3 - 4 PSI at idle. Another test is that it should pump a minimum of 1 pint in one minute. The needle valve at the bottom of the tank is notorious for getting partially plugged with trash and should be inspected as well.
