Hate to use this term as its soooo overused and everyone has a story but this week while looking at a Volvo 740 Turbo wagon I saw an old truck in the neighbors barn. Well the volvo is still there and the 52 is in my driveway. It was last driven in 79 but "ran when parked" in the barn. How well it ran I have no idea. Was dusty as hell but very straight and besides a little spot of rust in the drivers lower cowl and some in the floor a great speciman. Original faded green paint. I peeled up an old carpet someone had installed and the wood plank bed looks great, as does the glass, engine bay, overall very good. I need something to replace my 59 parkwood wagon I sold a few months ago to haul my DJ stuff around thus the Volvo. How much work to turn this into a dependable daily driver? Simple engine trans swap or the whole front clip thing? Body wise it really doesn't need a thing to drive it. A couple small dents in one fender and a drivers side floor patch panel and the seat recovered. Or just pass this on to someone and find something (makes me sick to say it) sensible. Engine turns free but the dipstick came out looking nasty. Not sure if it will run but all the wiring looks great. Guess I need to pull the pan and see what I find.
Have to think about how much you really want the Chevy. Personally i would put in however much time/effort required to say i drove a chevy ute, rather than a Volvo, turbo or not. A half running Chev gets a shitload more respect in my book than even a brand new volvo haha. My 2c...
