Hi folks, I have a more-door 52 that I'm trying to put a ST-10 and 283 into. Looks like I'll have to hack out the two stock crossmembers to clear the ST-10. I'm a beginner fabricator with only a 110 Hobart Mig. Anyone have advice on how to proceed with modifying a trans crossmember while keeping structural integrity intact? I've done similar swaps on 60's unibody cars but this is different. Thanks for any input.
Welp, I ended up chopping into the front crossmember, which is only 1/8 inch thick so my Hobart Handler 140 handled it nicely. I cut and boxed it in, now the oil pan fits just fine, and I have tons of clearance for the steering linkage.
