Ok, so I believe I am in the right place now as I am new to H.A.M.B, ok So I am starting my 1952 ford customline project. I am still up in the air about what all is going to get done to the car as this is my first Ford project, I came to this forum for ideas and too see other progress on these cars, P.S. My friends call me Ham, and i'm from eastern Kentucky
welcome to the group. A lot of great people who are willing to help out in here. much better than the main board.
Good stuff, looking foward to good ideas, never built a ford ever, In fact the first Ford I have ever owned is this customline.
Looks like somebody has already been busy under your hood, Ham. A very good start on what will be a great car, I'm sure. Is it a stick or an automatic? Looks to me like it only needs some detailing to be a fine cruiser. Welcome to the group, from Texas!
Ham , welcome to the group from Abbottstown , Pa. ! You have come to the best place for help to get that 52 up and running ! I do have a great deal on a 1949 to 1959 Ford disc that will show you all the exploded views on how everything comes apart and goes together ! It also has all the part numbers for reference . It's for windows with tons of information on it ! It's like the "Green Book" on your computer and you never have to worry about getting grease on the pages ! It's $12 to your door . If interested just PM me and I will give you the information on how to get one . Have any pictures of the 52 yet for us to see ? Jim
Welcome to the group from Northern California. My wife and I loved our visit to Kentucky last year. 52 Ford .. Great year.
This is what I have to start with, the car is currently a 3onthetree needs some work on the breaks, Will probably just go with disc conversion kit and go ahead and work on the suspension, going to skip the air ride for the time being and see how low we can take her down, Any photos or ideas are welcome as I am changing my mind daily on this car and what all to do with her.
Welcome again! now that I saved you from the evil bullys on the main board here is something you will want to save in your files http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=18186 this was put together by members as "guess what fits!" where you can find part numbers and links on "how to" modify your Ford.Since you brought up the brake subject you may find this useful, page 3 has some great info there on some links we posted. This is also very useful http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=20141 one of the last posts on page 3 I mentioned the availability of Kevlar shoes which will give disc performance at a more budget friendly cost with the Kevlar and the power brake & dual master combo your Ford will have real stopping power. You will also find tips on lowering your Ford best bang for the buck is the Aerostar spring swap as many will point out to you.
What...! Am I the only one who noticed that there's an OHV where once lived a flaphead? I guess it takes a Chevy guy to see obscure stuff like that, eh...
if you are looking to drop her go with 3" blocks and ford aero star springs works the best and sits nice cost you around $100
Yes Missysdad, The flat head was gone long before I had the pleasure of owning the car. I did score a 3 duece intake with carbs today for the Y block. All my fathers old Ford buddies are coming in handy already.
If my old '51 shoebox had been updated with a Y-block, I'd still own that car today. The flaphead was a pain in the patooie...
Ya know... If you rebuild the stock brakes they stop better than you'd think. You're in Eastern Kentucky, I'm right outside of NY City and drive mine into Manhattan all the time in hellacious traffic with psychotic drivers and my stock drums do fine.... Really cool car with a Y block in it!
