My Olds Rocket 88 was converted to 12 volts at some point. The 6 volt starter has quit and is beyond repair. I'd like to replace it with a 12 volt starter.
I need to know if any of the later years bolt up to the block the same as the '52, with the only difference being 12 volt. Thanks.

Number of flywheel teeth changed from 145 to 176 teeth in 54. Any starter from 49 to 53 will work. Consider having your starter rebuilt.

    Use a 1953 Olds starter.
Proper tooth count & is 12 volt. No problem.
