I wouldn't mind having some '54 Chrysler ones for our '54 Bel-Air! :D The 4 door in my signature just has the Night Prowlers' "Lee Lenses" with the deep bubble. Nothing fancy.

IMHO its hard to improve upon , and change just for changes sake does not always give you a good looking tailight.
thats why mine are stock bezels with a Lees' lense.

your looks more like a 53 chevy tailight.

here are some 53-54 chevys to give an idea what others have done.

    Nads, with 56 packard,

do you have a plan to do the whole car. it looks stupid to do the tail lights to a other wise stock car.

  17. First, Thanks everyone :) These are inspiring ideas!!!
Yup, you are right about a total plan. The car is actually a '53 which I planned to do an exterior restoration on with updated Mopar drivetrain. The car's front, especially, was defined by a lot of bright work tying the haedlights, grill and side trim together. Since it had what we used to call "Korean War chrome" (some of the "ingredients" that made chrome trim durable were left out to use in armaments manufacture to keep our men safe) as many of us know with original cars of this period the chrome literally peeled off of the parts. So. I took all my trim parts to a plater in NC who had a good rep. Well, his place burned down, all my parts were lost, and my hobbyist insurance at the time did not want to pay since the fire was of "dubious" origin. I decided to just do a custom front in the car and picked up a set of '54 tail lights (which were damn hard to find) but they have bad lenses and I haven't located any other lenses after hunting for some time. So. I need to do something different with the back.
Dirt tracker, you are right, if I have a near stock front or mild front treatment, an extreme rear will look goofy:eek: I hadn't heard of the Lee lenses before but looked at them on the web. Modifying the '54 bezels to accept the Lee lenses might be a good way to go:confused:
    Thoughts???

here`s my `53 with (if I remember right) `56 buick tail lights. But Old Dirt Tracker is right. If you don`t do anything with the front it`s gonna look "off"

Here's mine. I hand formed the housing's and used 54 Lee lenses. Nothing special, but simple.
