I can’t believe there is no 53-56 Ford pickup picture thread? I searched here, did a google search...nothing popped up. So...if not, let’s start one. I just bought a 55 Custom cab and looking to insperation. If there is a thread let’s let this die, but point me in the right direction please!
There is one,Not sure if I can find it tho. Seems like its "The good the bad and the ugly f100s or something like that, not sure. ......This is the one I was thinking of. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...et-us-see-pictures-of-your-f1-or-f100.317676/
Hopefully something else will come up, or maybe this will be the new best thread for the 53 to 56s. Ive had 3 53s and a 56 myself.
I don't seem to remember a 53-56 only post. Being I have a serious weakness for them I tend to open everything I find on them. Yes I still have one but it's currently about as far apart as you can get one so no photos right now. I do however have a photo I snagged somewhere of what I hope to get close to when done. That Silver hair guy has all the right stuff going on. Way Kool!! The Wizzard
Ive owned this 56 long bed more than 40 years. It originally had a 272 Yblock automatic. ive had a 430 MEL and a 66 250 hp 352 both with stick transmissions in it. I pulled the 352 and plan to install a 401 buick nailhead that has a bunch of Wieand goodies and a stick lasalle trans.
Here's three different versions of the same chopped 56 Effie, and the fourth pic is my in progress 54.
Yea that's a Jersey Bull. He was a bucket calf and is a pet has no fear of humans and he sometimes is kinda mean. He wanted to get my grandson Chris that day. I have sold him since the picture was taken. probably wound up as a fast food burger.
Yes I need to get it around front and set the engine in there and weld up engine mounts. In my old age I don't get a lot done sometimes. Also Ive got to where I usually pull the front fenders and hood ect when changing engines. Especially when welding and fab work are necessary. I bought a short bed trailer. and a short bed frame and was going to build it into a short bed. But when I learned how rare the longbeds are and as much work as it would involve I changed the plan. My Grandson Chris is 4 and really likes the old junk.
The red 56 I got from the Fertilizer plant. It was rusted beyond hope. had a 272 granny 4 speed and a factory flat bed. 427 rear gears. The stripped out cab was a 1 ton. it had real good doors and front cap. They went on a 56 panel truck I used to have. That cab is still viable. it needs floor pan work.
Since this is an F100 thread, I'm gonna ask some F100 questions. I've never messed with one and dont know all the differences thru the years and what will fit on what. But I know of a 56 big window locally that is basically just a cab with doors on a frame. No front sheet metal, no box and the lower end would need replaced. If I could buy it and then find a nice 53-55, would I be able to basically swap the 56 cab onto the earlier chassis and have the sheetmetal line up? Could the earlier floor, lower cowl panels, and maybe even the rear cab tub be used to patch the 56? Whats a ballpark value on a rusty big window cab with doors and the rear glass? $800??
