Hey everyone, I won a bet with my boyfriend and got my dream car a 1953 Chevy Bel Air sedan. Unfortunately it was gutted by previous owners and has no seats or interiors and I haven’t had the luck of finding any in my area. So I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of which seats would fit? The closest I’ve found were bench seats from a Chevy square body they measured 58”, but I wasn’t sure if they’d fit plus it was an hours drive there plus an hour home which made me more hesitant on the purchase. I’d honestly accept any recommendations.
My boyfriend has also set a goal of when he wants us to have the car finished which is Halloween.

  2. What general location are you? Might be surprised how many people nearby might have what you need

I forgot to mention I’m from San Diego, California.

  4. I know 55-57 Chevy seats can be made to fit fairly easily. And in San Diego that seat from a four door should be easy to find.

  5. Do you know if the car still has a straight six or is it V8 swapped?

The original straight six I believe what I can tell you with confidence is it’s a 3 speed manual

Not to be pedantic, but the car in the picture is a 210, not a Bel Air.

  10. Good luck, hope things work out for you.

  11. Was going to mention that myself. Doesn't really matter but out and about there are people that get particularly vicious when calling a car a bel air that's not one

Just in case you run into a '53-'54 Pontiac 4 dr being parted, they'll fit & are lots more comfy.

  13. Got a pic of one of those seats? Might be something to look for for my 53 Chevy

Give Jay a call. His shop deals with lots of vehicles 30’s 40’s 50’s 60’s. Between himself and the local car clubs that go to his shop will lead you in the right direction quickly. Jay may not remember me, but drop a mutual friends name “Cisco” with the 37 Pontiac. He’ll get a kick out of the that. IMG_4750.jpeg

@lumpy 63 you have any place/places to add?
