1953 Buick Special losing power at higher speeds

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by GLinOH, Jul 4, 2011.

  1. I had a similar problem with my 53 and it turned out to be a 69 cent a foot fuel line made of rubber that had an internal flap in it. So at certain flows like under demand the flap would open and block the fuel flow. Change any hoses and try again just in case. Rags

  2. That really doesn't sound "up to code" to me. I'd run steel lines wherever you can following the stock routing as much as possible. Use rubber hose sections only where needed, like at flex connections. The rubber hose is still too susceptible to abrasion or other damage if something flies up under the floor of the car.

Yea, I'm definitely leaning towards replacing all the lines now. I will replace steel with steel, I was just wondering why some people do that. I've already replaced all the rubber sections. I've already ran brake lines, it's probably easier to run gas lines :) except for dropping a full tank of gas hehe.

    Thanks everyone!
