Hi, I have a problem I live in Australia and I have 1953 chevy belair I also have some 1954 Oldsmobile hub caps and some 1957 Lincoln hubcaps My problem is they don't fit the standard rims? The hub caps hit the rim centre too shallow maybe? I see so many guys running these hub caps though on 53 chevs So what other rims can I run with the same stud pattern?so I can fit thebhub caps I cannot run reverse rims in my state they are not legal Thanks for any info
I think you need to try some 49 to 52 wheels.I have the same deal on my 54 Belair and the Olds caps fit the earlier wheels.
You might also try some of the newer 15 inch Chevrolet/GM car wheels. I'd take one of the hub caps and try it on rims with the right bolt pattern until I found a good fit. I've got wheels off a 1976 Cadillac Seville that have the 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern that have a bit of a reverse offset to them but are factory wheels. Something like that may work and sometimes factory station wagon wheels are a bit wider and deeper than sedan wheels. I took a photo of the 76 Cadillac Seville rim when I got home . These are going on my 48 pickup. Before someone says anything about the lack of lug nuts they are just on a rear axle out in the back lot right now.
Are you sure the hubcap,is not hitting on the dust cap first holding the hubcap up. Maybe try removing the dust cap and try the hubcap on for size.
