Well after having to go to Dallas for a funeral and then thanksgiving break I was finally able to work on my car after two weeks. I was trying to adjust the hood a little bit more before i pushed the car into the paint booth and a bolt snapped when i was tightening everything back up. That caused the entire hinge to collapse because now the spring was trying to pull the hood down so i tried to close the hood but then the hood was twisting so basically i got really pissed off and took the entire front end off. I'm glad I did take the hood and fenders off. It gave me a chance to clean up some body work i did on them and I think it will be much easier to get even gaps now.
I don't think I want to invest that much into this car, my dad has a 41 ford just sitting around so I think I'm going to sell this and buy the 41 from him.
Did I understand you to say you would sell this in favor of a 41 Ford "lowrider"? What would want dollarwise to part with this now and get into the project you really want?
well after a lot of snow days i finally got the car all painted. Now its at my dads car lot and i'm going to start wet sanding and buffing it this weekend probably. I promise i'll get some better pictures of the car once it's all buffed out, and put back together.
that was the original color of my 54, i would have never imagined it would look that nice. Nice work! Cesar
Well it has been awhile since I have worked on this car but I got some motivation this weekend because I set a dead line for myself. KKOA's leadsled spectacular in Salina at the end of july. Today I finished the long process of wet sanding and buffing the car, my dad installed the door handles and also painted up a new motor be bought for the car. . here's the new motor. It's a real mystery because it has a 216 head on it but the block had "235 .40 over" written on it in a grease pencil. The guy we bought it from said it was rebuilt years ago but he put a v8 in his truck instead of the inline six. Oh yea I hope every one likes the gold, I think it goes well the the mild custom look we are going for now. I think the gold looks cool with the factory paint colors
I'm not sure, my dad had them on a 55 chevy he had in the 70's. I think they are called spider mags and he always talks about how they were only produced one year but I doubt that.
Nice color! Looks great. Like the color of the motor too. Will look sweet once it's all back together. Are those the wheels your going with? What are they from?
This thread came to mind..... might find this interesting? http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=166984&highlight=spyders
Wow thats crazy, I'm actually working on a 71 buick for my brother right now. I'll have to keep these wheels in mind for it!
Thanks for the compliments! I don't think these are the wheels I'm going to be running. I recently pieced together a set of vintage radir wheels so I i'm going to run those after I polish them all up.
good decision going with an "old" color. i don't like old cars with new, fancyfied paint schemes. love the rims.... oh, be careful breathing the paint fumes and shop dust. your lungs will have to last you for many decades. autobody is a dangerous occupation.
