1953 Chevrolet 3100 ½ ton pick up truck.

This truck has a 1960 full oiling 235 CI motor and a modern t-5 5 speed transmission with overdrive. It will cruise down the freeway with the flow of traffic just sipping gas. The motor has low miles with hydraulic lifters and a new clutch with the transmission install and short throw shifter. The front springs have been rebuilt with new hangers and poly liners installed between the leafs. The front axle has been dropped 4”. New kingpins installed, steering control arms modified to eliminate bump steer. Ball and socket type tie rods have been all upgraded to use modern style tie rods. New wheel bearings, front brakes and hoses. The rear suspension has been converted to trailing arm type suspension (the same type that is used in NASCAR) for its adjustability and durability. With an adjustable panhard bar. The wheel base was stretched at the time of rear installation to center the rear tires in the fender opening. It uses an air zenith compressor with 5 gallon storage tank. The air is supplied to the slam specialty bags through 4 ½” valves. These valves move the air fast and enable you to adjust the bags independently. Three switches let you adjust each side by itself or use one switch to manipulate both sides. A single two needle gauge under the dash let you know exactly how the ride is set. The rear end is a Chevy 12 bolt with 3.73 gears and posi unit. The rear end has new axle seals bearings and rear brakes and brake lines. The rear drive line is a CV style unit to eliminate vibration at any ride level. The floor of the cab is rust free it has been sealed, sound deadener installed over that, foam installation over that and finally carpet covering it all. All of the stock gauges work as they should. The truck has been recently rewired with fuses and converted over to 12 volt. The cab also has an aftermarket style heater. The blower fan motor for it is a little tired and occasionally needs some tapping to start the spinning. The truck has 5 stock style 15” rims that have been power coated with matching small whitewall radial tires. Here is a link to some photos during the bag/rear suspension install. they are in my profile album here on the hamb.
