Just pulled trans (3-speed, 235 engine) to redo all the gaskets and change my clutch but I can't seem to get a socket around the top two bolts of the clutch cover (not enough space between that and the inside of the bell housing). I also opened up the inspection panel on the interior floor but there isn't enough space there to open up the panel at the top of the bell housing. Anyone have any tips on what to do to get those bolts out? I read somewhere else that they had to turn the engine to bring those bolts down. Would that be the best option? Thanks for the help! (I do have a shop manual but unfortunately all it says regarding taking those bolts out is to "take the bolts out" unless I missed something somewhere)
You don’t need to pull the bellhousing. You have two bolts on the outside top of trans and two on the bottom that are inside bellhousing. Clutch and pressure plate will drop oh the bottom after you remove trans
He already has the trans out. He is having trouble getting to the top pressure plate to flywheel bolts. Simply turn the engine over until the bolts are accessible. Then the clutch will drop out of the bottom of the bell housing
