I saw some of the old discussions about rear end recommendations, but I didn't really find a case like mine. 1953 Customline with a carbureted 5.0 (1990's era) and automatic. We got an engine mounting bracket kit from ButchsCoolStuff.com. It was less than $200 and worked great. I am worried that the original rear end (that has been leaking for a long time) won't stand up to the modern engine/HP. What do you recommend for a rear end replacement on a budget? We're keeping the drums on the front, so we're looking for drum brake rear end. I believe the backplate to backplate measurement is around 52". Any thoughts appreciated.
Thinking about doing a up grade to my 53 sometime. Have been looking into using a 8.8 Ford rear end. They come in either Drum or Disk. They are suppose to be lot of them out there in Junk Yards. Can be had cheap! They Say! I need to Check it out. Not sure what it takes to get one to fit either.
