1953 Desoto Steering Column removal???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fatty, Dec 11, 2006.

  1. So I am trying to get the steering column out of this Desoto I have removed the plated that goes on the floorboard. I have taken loose the shifter parts and I cannot find how it attatches into the steering box. Its able to move around but will not pull out.

What can I do to get that column out of their?

most likely the shaft that the steering wheel attaches to is part of the steering box. You take out the box with the column. Or you take the "mast jacket" off and leave the shaft in the car.

I agree with fatty the steering shaft is part of the steering box, just looked at an old "Motor's" manual auto repair.
