The start. Picks are on the way, but First i dropped a chevy 283 with a auto trans, next dropped it 4 in the front and then 5 in the back. chopped the roof off and then next will be a carson top, winsheild is 10 inches tall. ok now the part i cant point out is the front grill, cant make up my mind, Any ideas, tonight a started m***ing around with coduit but i dont know or econoline headlight trime and a 300 grill but i dont know and its hard to find pics of custom grills from back then I have looked on here and i have a few rod and custom mags from the 50s and 60s but still drawing a blank. Any help ideas pics would be great, I also have a mustang II power rack up for grabs.
Im building a fibergl*** carson top for it or just chop the top I havent made my mind up yet. But yah i dont like these trucks with out a roof
Why are you calling a Home Built Fibergl*** roof a Carson top? It's just a home built roof isn't it? I love F-ies and have had at least 1, some times up to 4 at a time since 1964 and still do. None of which have ever been stock. I just can't get into what it sounds like your doing but I'm just one guy with one opinyon. Why not post some photos and try to change my point of View. I like new ideas, just not Basterdized ones. The Wizzard
lets see a pic. not sure i'm following you on the roof thing, but maybe a pic would make me understand.
here are some picks from the start I got this truck for 400.00 so.... click on the link and check them out
Havent seen too many of these trucks with the top off that look good. IMO. But anything is worth a shot as long as its not mine. Good luck.
The way I read the first post you say the roof is already off. I didn't see that in any of the picks. Were it I doing that project I'd be addressing the rust problems before I made a new one to deal with. The Wizzard
Its not done yet its on its wayright now im doing metal working that why i need help with the grille. Im looking at some 53 buick headlight grilles. but its the grille that has me stumped. My goal is to have this done for the world of wheels here in indy in FEB. its the weekend of my birthday so its time to get to the grind. As far as the top goes I wanna do like a flat top look. yah I know people on here a hard but thats what makes this site what it is, makeing the fake wanna bes leave and the true hot rodders stay. So if i piss any one off sorry but im doing what i can with what i got.<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD colSpan=2> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
these pics where taken the first week, tomarrow ill put up the pics from the second week witch ends tonight.
I have done alot more in less time, A shop that i worked for down in TN we did a 41 willy g***er in 3 weeks from ground up
Wow, 16 weeks to a show truck. I wish you the best no matter what you end up doing. It took 19 weeks of 60-70 hour weeks to just get from Sand blasted to cut and buff on my 57. There isn't anything else bolted to the ch***is but sheet metal. I must be getting to Old for this game. The Wizzard
well the things im letting slide by the show is the gl*** windshield, hood, bed floor, and im going to barrow seats and rims and tires off my buddies truck, this stuff here is just to hard to get my hands on in time for the show, seat is custom made so is the gl*** and the hood i might not run a hood. this will be a driver so. I would loveto drop the cab down to line up with the finders but im just trying to get something that a can show and drive not looking for awards or mags but it would be nice right.
oh there was 7 of us, I was the body guy, the frame tech, motor tech, painter, wire tech, owner and his son. I would tell the name of the shop but there is some bad blood there and dont wanna start anything. but it was a fibergl*** body and a crate motor and everything elss was in house.
