sooo this just happened. I decided if I am going this far that I might as well go for a 427 stroker. It was a marginal increase in price.

What are my header options for a 351 based engine? It seems as though doing the front end conversion should make things a bit easier.

That is a beautiful car. How long the T- 5 will live depends to a great extent on how much tire you use.Skinny "period" tires should be OK.Big ,sticky tires with the 351 will not be good for the trans.

Going to be ordering a TKO-600 tomorrow and front end from fatman with coil overs. What are the differences between the sbf bell housing and 302 bell housing? Are there any other accessories I need to look for?

Wow, just saw this. If it is left as-is appearance wise, that will be one sneaky sleeper!
Going with the stick, look into the hydraulic clutch conversions for early Mustangs. Better upgrade the rear end. 9" or 8.8.
This is gonna be one slick ride

    Awesome..... Love it
With the Mustang II style suspension, I wonder if a dual hump oil pan would allow you to set the engine back further?

Possibly will have to see as the trans tunnel will be modified for the 5speed and depending on the front stub

I highly advise against the TKO transmission. Back when I did my 650whp mustang build I put a brand new TKO with 26 spine input shaft in it and I regretted it big time. If I was going to do it all over again I would do a built/upgraded T56 from a company like G-Force or similar. The TKO did NOT like to shift above 6k rpm with that much power, it was like hitting a brick wall. I did some research and found that its a pretty common complaint of the TKO setups and the best option was to go T56. The T56 I had in my other mustang (03 Cobra) was awesome, and same with every other T56 car I have driven, even when the car was making 700+whp.

However, as far as your overall build is concerned, BAD***! I love it. Every aspect of where you are going with it is great. Keep up the good work! I'll definitely be tuning in to keep and on it too!

Thanks man, appreciate the input I have looked into the T56 but the price is a bit daunting but if I can find a reasonably priced one that may be the better route.

headers, shorties or get some swap meet headers and when you find a good fit (possibly a 2 from different sets) have em coated and go.
A nice tight fitting full length would be a 351W header made for a Maverick.
Another consideration is the exhaust goes through the frame. so I would lean shorty. These are made for an F150 from Ford Motorsport. Leaves room for pipes, clutch parts ect FordRacingPickupHeaders002.jpg FordRacingPickupHeaders004.jpg

If I can get a used T56 does it matter what car it comes out or do they have adapters for them

2k for a T5 is pretty pricey especially when a tko can be found for 2300

I would also think the engine you are going with will exceed that 300 fl/lb torque limit of that T5 posted. I would definitely go TKO over T5, but T56 over TKO. If I remember correctly, when you are buying the T56 without the bell housing that they are all going to be the same. That engine is SBF based right? I know there are T56 to SBF bell housings available on the market.
