***ume a FH V8? Is there something wrong with the current trans, shifter, or maybe you don’t have one and are starting from scratch? There’s a few places that sell T 5 adapter kits, There’s also a company ( or they market it called) Flat-O-Matic that mates a C4 to a FH V8. You could search the auction site for an old floor shift conversion as well other option could be the used of a ‘42-7 Ford pickup transmission, as they were open drive. If it’s a FH 6, disregard anything I wrote as I don’t know what interchanges if anything. Ps I hate T-Mobile , been waiting for service to hit reply. Lol.
For those that aren't aware the 53 V-8 Truck had motor mount ears on the bellhousing. 3 speed trans has the same bolt pattern on the Trans as used all the way up to 1965. It's not the early style half bell like 32-48 cars. There is also no trans mount crossmember as in p***enger cars. Personally, I feel the C-4 conversion does nothing for drive service except eliminate the Clutch. It also robs horsepower and the 239 don't have any to spare. If you just want a Floor Shift find an Old Hurst unit and bolt it on, get on with driving it. Anything more than that involves more work than I feel it's worth. If you want an Overdrive, find a pre 1956 Ford Car or Truck overdrive and bolt it in and shorten the driveshaft. Those are 6-V and bolt right in. Don't worry about the extra length hanging out back. Automatic's are for girls (don't tell my Wife I said that).
I like the full synchro mid- 60's to early 70's Ford p*** 3 speed with Jeep T-150 top. It will bolt to your bellhousing.
Another good choice is the Ford 3+1 manual overdrive unit. Difference is it takes a Hurst style floor shift unit, not top shift. Either style looks right to the p***er by.
