I am finally getting to work on my chopped top 53... I am going to experiment with the front suspension and the possible use of a fox body mustang front K-member and A-arms spindles and rack and pinion. I know that the top of the spindle is attached to a strut. But the coil is in the lower A-arm and goes up to the frame like the original.. So to mount the upper strut id have to fabricate a upside down U that mounts to the top of the frame to mount the strut too. Just like the offroad trucks mount long travel shocks.. Then i would be able to remove most of the bulk in the front frame and the cradle under the engine. This way ill gain lower clearance, disc brakes, rack and pinion... Any thoughts?????? Russ
Great idea for someone who can weld very well. I often thought of a complete Thunderbird suspension under a shoe box Ford. Independent front and rear, good ride, good brakes, great handling.
