we prob wouldn't have gone this route except for the fact that almost all of the chrome and stainless was either missing or in really poor condition, thats why we decided to go this way.

I'm telling ya, shrink those bezels down and make them fit around some 5 3/4" bulbs...it will look much more proportionate and will get rid of that bug eye look...7" bulbs were never meant to be in a quad set-up...

Great build so far. Love these cars and you don't see them very often. I had a 54 years ago, wish I still had it.

I have to agree with all who are saying the lights are way too large and the grill is out of sync. But it's your car, please yourself.

I can't believe I just found this! I'm liking the way this is going, I would go with the oval grill though I think it looks the best. Keep it up man!

  13. Like the oval grill better, seems more proportionate to the front of the the car and to the design.

    Hey,

I'm diggin your Lincoln build, and the fact you're building what YOU wanna!
Most quad headlamp conversions on kustoms require a careful balance so that they don't become the main focal point of the build-you know, like an ugly broad with big cans?
Some Lucas Tri-bars @5.5 dia. each and some handbuilt stanless headlamp doors, polished to a chrome-like finish together with a trapizoid shaped grille opening would perhaps, offset the bluff-like look of the front end you're tryin to change. Too, some facebar overriders could be mounted just above and outboard of the bullits to better balance the area's mass to negative space of the grille opening. Is the Pontiac facebar on the shop floor goin on the rear? I'd go with a very fine metalic or pearl, but no clown paint i.e. heavy flake or flame job so as not to make the metalwork duke it out for attention with the paint job.

    Great work so far!

Thanks for the suggestions, the bumper on the ground is a 59 chrysler front bumper,it might be used on the back,we are prob going to repaint the top maybe a silver and the car a red metalic with a few scallops,as the interior is red, black and silver

    That's not it. This is .. J/K

Oval looks better. Also if you reworked the underside of the lights into a reversed curve it would look better rather than the 90° , stuck the light here look.

what about a 55 caddy bumper? with a floating bar grille..I dig the headlights..just needs a bulkier lower end to balance IMO.Like where it is going though.
The beauty of being kustom is everyone else would have done something different..

Flip the bumper...the dip would look better dropping under the grille rather than pointing up into the grille...IMHO

Changed the grill today and went to the junk yard and got my headlight buckets,I am planning on doing a reversed curve to the underside of the lights before its all done, when it is finished it will all flow, there will be no 90 degree intersections, they will all be smooth

Comming out really good. I like it a lot. Never owned a Mercury, but always wanted one. Like the custom lights looks good on that year.

Love the metal work and canted quads. Totally looks awesome on this Lincoln, something I'd see out of an old car craft magazine from back then. Keep up the good work.

Charlieled beat me to it!! I'd flip the bumper so it dips in the center....oval grille works better tho...but the headlights remind me of a girl knew in school...size 8 bod with size 14 boobs...:D:D:D just my .02
