You are welcome, It was one hot mofo in the booth, glad I was only in for about an hour, 10:30am was proably already 90deg.? , went and picked up a 23 t touring body to start working on for a buddy of mine this weekend. Stop by and shoot the sh%t when your in the area next time.
Here is an "unfinished" version of my new tail lights. Here is a link to how I made them. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6793482#post6793482
Well, here is the new stance of the car and also my helper. Next, white walls! 1953 Mercury Here is how my gauges are going to be lit up. They are just sitting there for mock up and will fit better when complete.
My dad had one same color and I would spend hours behind the whell pretending I was driving. Loved all the switches and such. Mapm light too. It was his first automatic. I would wAX THAT THING ALL THE TIME. Great job, enjoy !
Now I have the gauges installed along with the levers for the air. I know led lights aren't Hamb friendly but I do a lot of night driving, also they don't have a bad glare and aren't blinding like in the picture. Oh, and whomever buys this car and does not like the lights, the original ones are in there and these are just held in with adhesive, nothing permanent.
Yes I do, Whatca need? I need a drivers front gl***, w/p pulley and one more grill tooth to complete mine.
Here are the new door panels. I still need to stretch them and glue then, the only thing holding them on is the trim. Ill try to get a better pic tomorrow, the top is a pearl with diamond like squares in it.
Here is the door panels completed, you can also see the close up that has the patters in it, but it still wont show the pearl thats in the white. I couldn't afford to drop over a grand on getting the bumpers re chromed and the previous owner likes to play bumper cars I guess because they were full of deep gouges. So I ground down the gouges and sanded all the rust and then sanded streaks in it to resemble brushed steel and then added Duplicolors metal flake clear over it for a neat effect. Here it is with the painted tail lights and the rear bumper on. Yesterday I also installed the trunk popper.
Love seeing builds like this going on. Not some huge garage full off snap-on tools and expensive rides lying about. Looks like your doing the best you can with what you've got, no huge budget, using your imagination and the cars really looking really sweet. Hope you enjoy it and drive the rims off it when its done. Top stuff, really inspiring to those in a similar situation. All the best Dan
Where in the heck did you come across a fawn with a dog collar on it? Using your shin for a salt lick!
I picked up some 1953 plates this morning at the Giddings Swap Meet. Before: Top n is how I bought them, bottom is after washed. Repainted letters and numbers Clear Coat
Now Ive got the front white walls painted on and most of the chrome trim installed. Here is the new plate installed. I cant find a frame that fits it!
Now most of the interior is in with all new weatherstripping. I am almost done with the trunk. It has a carpeted lid along with a finished look inside, just need one more piece of carpet.
Looks great man! Did you have some sort of reference to use while measuring the trunk for interior panels?
I made my radio delete panel "Aluminum can of beans and two chrome door locks" Completed my trunk, and no thats not the correct "Flat" spare tire for the car, its for demonstration purposes only.
