1953 Mercury Custom 2dr hardtop. 255 flathead 4000 miles on complete rebuild. Engine had 56000 miles when I rebuilt it. It is still the stock bore very little wear in the cylinders crankshaft polished still stock dimensions. New camshaft and johnson adjustable lifters. New water pumps , new oil pump. New radiator. Strong running engine..Vacuum wiper motor rebuilt by wiperman.com and works great. Mercomatic transmission. Transmission shifts and operates perfect replaced front and rear seals and new filter and pan gasket. Had small leak where torque converter bolts together, I just pulled the transmission and put a new front pump and torque converter seal in itso the leak is now fixed. New carpet and interior. Headliner is new but has some wrinkles needs to be steamed and stretched. No rust I replaced rear lower right rear quarter panel, new rocker panels and cut out and repaired rust in various places. All gl*** and trim removed so it is a quality paint job however not cut and polished. New original looking wiring harness ( cloth covered pvc ). Complete new brake system all hydraulics replaced including brake hoses. Front and rear bumpers, fog lamps, grill teeth, door handles, trunk emblem, tail lights and bezels and horn ring all re chromed. Front door pillars have good shine but there is some small pitting. I just replaced the clock so it still works radio was replaced when I restored the car and just recently quit working. I do have the original bumper jack, wheels and hubcaps.I have receipts for all parts and supplies plus photo do***entation of restoration. Restoration finished in 2012.
