Recently bought a 53 Mercury. No motor or transmission. Engine compartment looks pretty tight with the way the steering box and steering cross link goes across. Has anyone put a 351 or later 4.6 mod motor in one? Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

  3. Don't even think about a Mod motor... it's way too wide. A Windsor motor will fit much better....

Pretty sure a flathead would fit nicely...

The flathead was long gone before I got the car.

From what I was measuring I thought the mod would be too wide

Jeff thanks I will check that group out
