As much as I hate to, it's time to pass on my Dad's Catalina for the next family to enjoy, so I can finish some of my own projects. It's a Pontiac Custom Catalina 2 door Hardtop, survivor, 44,744 original miles, indoor dry storage at my parent's home, then mine, for the last 44 years. My Dad was the 2nd owner and purchased the car in 1978, with 40,300 miles on it. I was with him when we bought it and drove it home from Geneva, NY. The car was garage kept by the original owner and not used in bad weather. She would take the bus instead. The car is in excellent original condition and was the top-of-the-line model with almost every available option that year, including power steering. The interior is 100% original and is like a time capsule from 1953. The dashboard, gauges, deluxe steering wheel and all painted surfaces are near perfect (9+ out of 10). The door cards, rear side panels and rear leather seat are also near perfect. The front leather seat is very nice but has a couple seams that have started to split and there is some sun fading. The original wool carpets are very nice, the back seat area looks like no one ever sat in it. The car runs and drives perfectly. The original inline, 8-cylinder engine and 4 speed auto transmission work perfectly. There is no rust, rot or dents in the body (some surface rust on the frame) however there are chips and dings and a few areas polished through. I can provide detail photo's if someone is interested. The top was faded, so it was repainted in the 80's and is still perfect. I did a complete mechanical refresh including: 100% new brakes, fuel system, exhaust, battery, shocks, rear springs, rebuilt radiator, new hoses and belts and various gaskets, bushings and seals as required. The tires are like new with about 4k miles. The car is not perfect, but it is an exceptionally nice original car with the kind of patina it takes 70 years to make and can't be duplicated. It includes all the original manuals as shown. I also have an extensive inventory of literature, used and NOS parts that we can work out a deal on. The car is really fun to drive, the 268 ci straight 8 has tons of low-end torque and with the 4 speed Hydromatic and 3.07 rear end gears it cruises very comfortably at 70, it pulls long hills without even slowing down. I've put about 3k miles on it over the last few years, it's been a lot of fun but it's time to let it go. Title in hand. Sorry about the duplicate pics, not sure what happened. Car has been sold.
