Well,... Ive started the Long on going repair of this.. I would like to thank all that were willing to offer there time to take this task on.. But I know this would not make another trip.. Winter is going to set here soon.. So this is my indoor project.. I have to say though.. the Designers of the day had skills.. Making one of these is not an easy task, just by looking at this..
this will be a start to finsh thread.. I hope its allowed to stay..

I still have to flip this over and re-enforce the inners.. Lots of Cracks.. Ive had a Paint company match the color.. provide me with the primers required to make it all work.. before the Finish is applied.. I will have a mould taken from this.. to make sure a copy is around for alonger period of time.. I would like to keep this thread updated till after its complete..

I love stuff like this. Good luck , its starting to look better. I've seen manufacturers models before at Carlisle for sale many years ago and kick myself for not getting them. The one that comes to mind was a flattop 59 Buick 4-door. It was big scale like your Willys. It will look really good on somebodies table someday!:D

  4. That was ****ed up what happened to it, nice to see it being saved.

Well,, Did the Inside of this today.. we have a Studio near the City that does bronze sculptures.. They have guided me through the process of this.. with the type of product used in the day, The Hemp for strength.. that is mixed with the Hydrocal Plaster to make it strong.. Hope this isnt to boring for you all..

Now it sits till drying is complete.. it will be a week or so before it will be flipped back over to do more on the outside..as you see its wet , so the color is off.. but when its dry.. it will be close to the same as the rest... I have to say though.. back in the day.. this would of been a whole lot of work doing this from scratch.. plus the amount of Product used..
    :)

I love Willys products. Thanks for saving that one for people to look at in the future.

Now to find an Aero to make a wagon out of.... haha

  15. So glad to see it being resurrected; When I saw the damage pics I just about lost it.Love stuff like this:wish my shop was about 10 times larger,I'd fill it with these.
Also glad to hear it will be on loan to a museum for all to see.Something as nice as this should not be hidden away.

Happy to see this thing getting fixed :)

  20. Excellent to see it on the mend!

Looks like Darrin used a foil around the window trim to simulate chrome. You could probably use the "bare-metal foil" product from the hobby store to fix that too.

Haha, clicked into page two and forgot this thread was about the busted up small scale concept.......and thought oh my god look at the bondo! False alarm :)

Neat little design study, glad you're saving it.

Too funny.. Bondo? This is like sanding gl***.. The product is a High density Plaster called Hydrocal .. flick the fingernail on the old areas, it pings like gl***.. the new areas do the same.. you can sure hear the areas that have cracks when there not repaired.. it has the dull vibration tone ..

I think Im the only one that can Bondo a Bumper.. :)
