Bought a 54 210 delray 2-door today, all original except paint, has 6-cylinder in it that runs good, this thing has factory power steering, did they put power steering on alot of the 54s or just a few certain models? this car is a standard ****** car no powerglide special setup or anything.
Found out on Chevytalk that this is a 54 club coupe, very few with power steering, same interior and dash as belair but more space inside, also the 115 hp 235 engine and special chrome trim package.just having trouble finding a site to decode the vin,and I ain"t paying Edmonds $49.95 for info.
Power steering is really rare and desirable on a '54. Surprising to find it on a non-powerglide 210 business coupe, must have been a special order. I sold the plastic center out of a '54 power steering horn ring for $140 once, they can't be common.
I got a 54 club coupe too with PS, and PG. I decoded the vin using a parts catalog. I think it was Obsolete Chevrolet that had all the vin breakdown info in the front of the catalog with production numbers and stuff.
this website has all the VIN info... http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/ have to scroll about 1/3 the way down for the 54
