I,ve did a search but did not find what I need. What is the procedure for valve adjustment on this motor? what do you set them at? Anyhelp would be appreciated......
You can find most anything in here. It's a procedure,I don't have the order but one of these shop manuals will. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/
Intake .006, exhuast .016. Hot and running. If the motor has a gazillion miles on it, the rockers should be removed and have the faces ground. They get little holes worn in them and ruin your feeler gauges.
Question is this engine from a Powerglide car??? If so they have hydralic lifters. OldDon is right about the feeler guages and with wear you don't get a true reading. What I use is a set of narrow blade gages made for points and such, fits in the wore area.
Ok Soild lifters then. Std shift cars had solids till 57-8 as i remember. We allways adjusted them warm and idling. Otherwise warm and go thru the firing order ,pull dist cap and make some chalk marks where the wire would be. Put in high gear and move the car FORWARD only till the rotor point to the cylinder you want. You will wish you had 3 hands running !! LOL PS '54 210 2 door was my first car in'59.
thanks 4 info,I looked through link above found good info. but none with procedure of adjustment..but I think I'll give it a try.
