Did that get your attention!? LOL! This thing is F'n sick! I am digging the simplicity and detail in the valve covers. Just thought id share with the HAMB. Thanks http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/pts/2154324741.html
The guy selling that has no idea what it is. A Chrysler would not get a Red Ram engine, that's Dodge only, and in '54 the Red Ram was 241 cubic inches, not 331. My guess is this guy has a 241 painted up pretty and thinks he's going to get $6K for it, which ain't gonna happen.
This is exactly why i come to the HAMB, everyone knows their shit. I love it!! I am no where near knowledgeable as the majority of the folks here, but i really enjoy learning new shit too.
Next week some FNG will be on here asking what speed parts are available for a 241 Red Ram Chrysler HEMI rat rod. This guy thinks he has a hard top. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/2166249501.html
Yeah, not a 331 Dodge OR Chrysler... Agree it looks like a 241 Dodge. Although I think the details are interesting and unique, I think it actually devalues that engine. Would probably look bitchin' in a low rider, though...
That's another one, anything that isn't a convertible is automatically a "hardtop". Granted, I can see where that would be confusing, but the guy in that ad talks like he's an expert and has it all figured out. 10 minutes of internet research can go a long way when you want to sell something.
Just walked out to look at my 1955 270, and it has the same dipstick location, and to think I just paid about $300 for mine!
aside from its basic desirability, that is one BUTT-ugly engine the guy has for sale. There used to be a term for it, but no longer PC. dj
But is your gold , anodized and engraved? Its all together too glitzy for my taste, but someone will like it.
Easy enough to identify by the engine number, but definitely a 241 or a 270. Would look good totally stripped of all the flashy crap and refinished properly.
