I Just Cut A Deal On A 1954 331 Caddy Motor And Was Wondering What The Cheapest Way To Hook Up A Standard Shift . Thanks Mike
If it has the same transmission bolt pattern as 55 and up Chev stuff (I think it does but it has been 50 years) just make sure there is a pilot bearing in the motor and attach any of the above types of transmissions. The old Cad/Lasalle boxes had that wide pattern back into the '30's.
An option is find a he**** or flower car, they are often low miles and are all over the place. Cadillac offered standard transmissions on commercial series. A better idea is to do it right and call Wilcap as suggested. Hyfire
stock Cad bellhousings come up on ebay infrequently, and go for big bucks. Call Wilcap or one of the other adapter outfits.
Any of you caddy guys have a spare 1954 coupe de ville p***emger trunk hindge lying around for sale? thanks
Wilcap are moving at the moment, not far is my understanding. I was talking to Pat on Friday. He doesnt have all the machines set up as yet. so if he has one instock then your right, if not, it might be a bit of a wait. Pats stuff is good. As striper said, ask Martin, I got that adapter in for him and I think it worked out ok, he's driven the car a fair bit and I havent heard him say anything about it. will have to get a ride in that thing...
The flywheel is whats hard to get . Save your auto flywheel , Wilcap needs the ring gear to make you a std flywheel .
