Im looking for a 1 piece carpet for my 54 bel air. All I can find is cut and sewn (original style) 2 piece carpet with an open hole under the front bench seat. I am running bucket seats, so this is unacceptable. I have seen cut and sewn carpet listed as "Fits 1953-1957 Bel Air". Does anyone know if a 1 piece carpet for a 1955 Chevy will fit my 54? John
A lot of people do this, the only issue is that Hancock/Jo-ann/etc. material is lousy as far as quality. If you are using this as a daily driver I suggest maybe just taking it to a reputable upholstery shop in your area for quality material. If this is your weekend cruiser you will be fine with Hancock/Jo-ann/etc. To my knowledge they are different floor pans. You maybe better off laying the carpet down in the blank spot with some edging then lay the two piece over the top of it to mask that area. Sounds cheap, but some shops wind up doing this anyway and make it look nice. Just an idea.. Here is an example of what I am talking about (scroll to the bottom of the page): http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=458755&highlight=cody+walls&page=101
"Trim Parts" makes a 1 piece molded carpet for the car. It took about 30 minutes on the phone with a distributor to be sure they have what I want. They dont have the exact color I picked out but they are sending me samples. Hopefully they will have something to match the rest of the interior. Thank you for the input! John
Sweet good to know I've got a 53 and a 54 poncho I want heavy carpet in them also. I had used a 60's gm station wagon carpet and cut it all up but shit got worn out
