1952-59 Ford 1954 ford 239 y block color

    does anyone know the factory colors of the 239 y out of a 54, and does anyone know if grinding the cast marks on the block help/hurt/doesnt matter the value of the car thanks. cheers!

    Well die grinding a block will take you a very long time to do ! Won't hurt the resale unless you are rebuilding to stock specification for show . If this is what you are doing , leave the block alone . Just remember this , once you grind it off it will never be original ever again !
    I wouldn't do that to a block !

    I did that to a chevy engine a few years ago in a roadster with an open engine bay... took a week to get everything smooth but it looked awesome when painted! I wouldn't do it if the engine is buried in the engine compartment and won't get looked at that close. It would be hard to notice all your work.
