does anyone know the factory colors of the 239 y out of a 54, and does anyone know if grinding the cast marks on the block help/hurt/doesnt matter the value of the car thanks. cheers!
Well die grinding a block will take you a very long time to do ! Won't hurt the resale unless you are rebuilding to stock specification for show . If this is what you are doing , leave the block alone . Just remember this , once you grind it off it will never be original ever again ! I wouldn't do that to a block ! Jim
I did that to a chevy engine a few years ago in a roadster with an open engine bay... took a week to get everything smooth but it looked awesome when painted! I wouldn't do it if the engine is buried in the engine compartment and won't get looked at that close. It would be hard to notice all your work.
For the factory paint and where to get it send a pm to member rustyfords He also moderates 1954ford.com.
