I'm gonna try to put up as many pics as I can I know I'll have a ton of questions along the way. I ordered my intake roller rockers and pushrods yesterday plan on getting the heads this weekend (AFR)..... Thanks Jeff for emailing me that info a while back

What intake you running? I just pulled a victor jr single plane off 302 (347 stroker) that I am going to sell, and just installed a new edelbrock air gap. Havent driven with the new air gap yet since I am recurving my distributor, but should give me better low end throttle. The AFR's should work great, I have canfield heads on mine.

Wish I had known I would have told you to order from streetsideauto, they are awesome and saved a lot of money on mine. I have a 10% off coupon code (code is SAVE) plus edelbrocks $25 rebate and then got a $25 visa card, free shipping, saved a bundle on my new intake :) At that point I couldnt afford not to get it.

Either way be sure to send in for your rebate with edelbrock if you didnt already know about it

Damn , I really like that color on your 54 ! What color is it and who's paint ? You don't need to feel guilty about the 302 swap . I am doing the same thing to my 55 Ford and backing it up with a C4 also . I just wanted an engine that if something went wrong on the road I could get parts very easily to fix it . The Y blocks are great engines but the parts cost so much more and performance parts are pricey too .
What cam are you going to be running ? In my 302 I am going to run a comp Thumper cam and I am using heavily modified 289 heads . I have a 1984 short block with flattops and using a performer intake but also have an old RPM intake too . I was thinking about looking for a single plain intake to use too . Going to get a Street Avenger to run on top . I did get a nice set of Tri-Y headers to use also . They will be easier to modify to fit in the 55 much easier than standard headers due to the steering box . Got a old pair of Smithys mufflers to run . Will be nice when done .
If you need any help or advice with your rebuild , just send me a email and will be glad to help you out . The sbf engine is the main engine I rebuild the most for people . Great engine !

The F cam is a very good mid to upper range cam . I have used them before and you are going to like it a lot . Pull like crazy once you get to about 2500 rpms .

A while back I built a similar combo (AFR 165s) on a .030 289 , in a Sunbeam Tiger. It Really runs strong!! lots of torque for such a small engine. Of course your car is a bit heavier.
What size of afrs did you get? with a 302 185s are the biggest you should get unless it is going to turn 7k.

Good deal screenz, glad it wasnt too late. They shipped my intake same day, got it in 2 days and the $25 visa was in the mail the next day. Service! They also price match so I will be ordering any new parts from them

Just in case I better mention this one to, MSD has rebates right now to, so if your going MSD for anything, buy MSD products between August 1 and September 30, 2010 and get $20 back for purchases between $200-$299, and $30 for spending $300 or more. Then add that to streetsideauto discount code and get your 10% off that to and free shipping.

Screenz, love your ride man, that thing is the ***s. I installed a 302/C4 combo in my '54 Mainline and never looked back. I hear some sort of 90's t-bird motor mounts are suppossed to work with the stock 292 mounts. I was not so fortuante, the guy I bought my car from hacked the mounts up bad, had to go with a Speedway kit.

There are spacers available for your valve covers. The ugly part is the cost, $130 at Jegs' or run this thru Google: M-6582-R302 or M-6582-E302P I have the early version of these that say Ford Motorsports no problem with clearance, that last part number is about the same as the spacers.

Thanks Jeff thats what I was thinking I like the ones I have now....it's cheaper to buy the spacers rather than send my covers back and get new ones blah blah blah Tomorrow's the day!

Screenz , you are going to love those AFR heads . Built a 347 for a guy and he had a set . Damn they are really nice right out of the box . The only think that should be done was match port the intake & exhaust ports . But what ever you do , DON'T touch the inside of the chambers ! Those swirls in there are for a special flow . BTW that 347 in the Mustang was a real strong running car ! He did have 2.02 in his . still one of the best heads you can buy for a 302 engine !
Let us know how it turns out .

OH I really love the looks of that " Hood ornament" on the front of your car ! :D
