1954 ford water pump help

    ok so I bought this ford wagon bad water pump, I ordered a new one no problem rite? nope wont fit its bigger, so what motor/pump do I have? thanks

  3. Your engine should be a 239 Y block. One year only engine. Its possible you may have to get a 292 timing cover?

    thanks, darn fords, change something every year... I found a proper 4 inch impeller pump.. cheers

    In 1954 Ford introduced the first overhead valve V8, there was 2 engines available. the 239 cubic inch and the 256 ( Police Interceptor ), I don't know if they used different water pumps. HRP

    As said, 239 is one year only in cars.
    You can put s 272/292/312 timing cover on a 239 and use the larger pump.
