Hey All, I know I have posted and addressed this before, but now I have photos and I think my situation is a little weird because the U bolts do not go over the axle now. Can I change that? Has anyone done this? I want to put the 3" lowering blocks I have on here but am worried if I move the mounting point back a couple inches to accomodate for the offset that is on it now.

I would think you could put blocks in and get longer bolts. Satin

  3. you are fine using longer SQUARE u-bolts and blocks on your setup...
The do not have to go over the axle

Do I need to get blocks the same width as my springs?(the ones I have are wider by about a quarter inch in each side.

Yes, they are specific. Or you can make sum. Hot Rod's of Norco used to sell em for way too much $$$. I think Chevs of the 40"s sells em too.

Seems like Night Prowlers has them too, in a kit with the longer bolts.

You can make them out of square tubeing, just make sure you offset the locating holes 1 1/2".I put 3 or 4 inch blocks in my 50 which is the same as a 54.If you can't find square bolts at a parts store a machine shop should be able to make the length you need.

My 54 has 4" blocks on the back with a long u-bolt around the axle with no problem.

Larry; Is your rear setup the same as mine with the offset mounting bracket?

4-Wheeler truck shops usually have a wide variety of U-bolts on hand.
