Can anyone tell me what the exhaust manifold number is for the driver's side exhaust manifold is? My aftermarket manifold hits the z bracket for the clutch, it would work great in an automatic transmission car, I think, but not for my stick shift. Do the Ford cars have the same manifold or do I have to find a Mercury? Thanks for any help.

Common problem with both '54 Fords and Mercs, you probably only have two real options Red's headers makes '54 only headers that fit great or convert to a hydraulic clutch set up.Your problem has come up many times on our Group http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/social-forums/1952-59-ford-social-group.282/ when guys tried to use '55 and later manifolds, some tried altering the Z bars but failed at success doing it.If you go hydraulic this will give you a basic idea of what is involved: http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/transmission-articles/481776-hydraulic-clutch-cl***ic-ford.html

I had a welder cut the exhaust outlet on the manifold, changed the angle of attack so it went down missing the shift levers gas welded it together. Been working fine for 6 or 7 years.
