Great video. At 19:16 there is a 54 Studebaker. A few years ago I tried to buy that car. A guy bought it new for the race, ended up coming in third in class behind 2 factory back Dodges. Sat in a barn until he passed, his niece inherited it and wanted to sell it. Still had the Panamerica license plate on it. Unfortunately she had wild expectations on what it was worth due to it's race history so we couldn't come to terms. While I was there she sold the license plate of it to a plate collector for $25. Wanted 25k for the car but willing to sell the plate for $25! After that I was done.
I heard that some of these ended up on used car lots after the race. It wasn’t collectible at that point, so someone thought they were getting a deal on a nice low mileage car.
