Why? They just look like already-customized 54 Chevys! If you're looking for ideas just ask... Ok, here's some.... Since what I said is pretty much true, Chevy's and everything else get customized with Pontiac tail lights and grills, all it needs is lowering and the extra badges and door handles shaved. If the plastic indian head isn't cracked, keep it! I think I'd "engine turn" the streaks in the hood & trunk (replace them with some turned stuff)
Thanks doc, what do you mean by engine turn? it is totally true, how about a few of anyones favorite 54 chev customs for reference. Thanks
engine-turned panels are those sheets of aluminum or stainless that have the swirls turned into them every square quarter inch or half inch, etc. like alot of SS impalas had. not sure i'd put a whole sheet of that on the hood myself, but inlaid into the grooves between ridges would be******in. seems like it would be kind pointless to replace the ribbing with a flat sheet of engine turned whatever when you could just nose the*****er and smooth over the huge channel recessed into the hood for the chrome. i've got hood chrome from a 51 or 52 pontiac for my 50, looks almost the same, but each rib has a tiny peak on it; looks sharp and its STAINLESS so the******** wasn't all rusted when i took it off of a car in a long-closed but reopened for a limited time only junkyard here in rust-hi-o. i tell you, i do like the idea of the engine turned stuff in between ribs though, especially on a 53 or 54. the chrome ribs on these were of a different width than earlier pontiacs, so you can't just take your pick from a few years. i WOULD like to see a few pontiac customs because you don't see many. they DO look the same as chevies, but the proportions are way different up front. besides, 53 and 54 ponchos had totally different quarter panels. i've got a pic of a 53 or 54 hardtop that was painted a NICE suede orange (think sherbet) with a white top, if memory serves, and astros. i'll try to resize the*****er so it can be posted here.
