as far as i know there are no replacement tops for them. the 239 is ok but if you want to keep a y-block i would go with a 55 and up one. 54 is a only year water pump, kinda low on power and has a oiling issue to the heads. the oil doesnt like to drain back out.......my .02......................john

somewhere along the way my y-block got changed out for a 302, and i wish it still had the original. Most any uphostery shop worth thier salt can make a new convertible top for you. (you are talking about a convertible top right?) i have a 54 customline btw

Sunliner is the drop top, skyliner is the gl***-top.

Yeah, my 239 was SLOW. Putting a 292 in there is a good idea, and the air cooled ford-o-matics are not bad transmissions at all, mine has a leak problem, but short of that they're pretty solid units.

'54 ford stuff has been getting fairly hot lately.

yea its a plexigl*** top from the factory. it has stress cracks all in it. it will probably be the last thing i fix on it. Yea the 239 did have oiling issues but there was a fix buy running a tube off the oil pump back up to the top. which mine has had done. I have a 55 fairlane also which is getting most of my attention right now. but ill probably be hitting the 54 pretty heavy in a few weeks. I might keep the old 239 anyway

  14. I don't know of a used one, but there's a guy (Wes Archer) that advertises in the Crown Victoria Club magazine that makes new ones. He's up in Vancouver, BC.
It's Archer Plastics. email- wes (at) archer_plastics.com
    $800 bucks though.
    Good luck :D

I don't think I've ever seen an original top insert that didn't have crazing on it. I have the complete roof off of one and I've been thinking of grafting it onto my '53 2 door sedan for a long time. My insert has the crazing too.

I've had good luck getting horn ****on centers and other plastic medallions looking good with vaseline, haven't tried it on the plexi top yet but it might be worth a try.

There is a guy here in Sheridan that has a really nice one and another that he used for parts. I have NO idea why he bought a second and didnt even use any of the parts that make it unique. Now it sits and rots in plain site. oh well!

This one belongs to my buddy Topper,he might know where to get the top. If all else fails, shell out the cash and make one from Lexan or clear Acrylic
