I have had this catalog for a few years. It was given to me by a close friend of mine that ordered it to build a hot rod motor for his brother-in-law. If there is any intrest I can scan some pages with parts and post them.

CLICK on the picture, let it open, click on it again and it should bring up a new window, click on it again and it is large enough to read.

I am a computer ididot and this was the only way I could find to make the scan fit the required space

    Here's a strange coincidence..

About a couple of months ago some older ladies walk in to our office in Richardson, tx., trying to sell us some payroll services. She didn't know or really care anything about cars, but she did say something about the old stuff we had in the shop. She mentioned that her grandfather was big into hot rods. .. She asked if we had ever heard of Wayne Horning. Unfortunately we didn't think to ask if she had any memorabilia, pictures or an attic full of leftover molds or anything

There is a thread or three asking what my dream car/hot-rod would be...well because it's my dream and you'd never be able to find one...my dream would be powered by that DOHC Wayne engine, a Tremec 5 speed and....
    Ah...the chance to dream....

Thanks for posting the scans of one of my father's catalogs. The Indy car in post #4 has been a grail of mine for years. I heard that the car has been located and will be restored while we were watching the waves break over lands end during World of Speed a couple of weeks ago.

Ran a 270 for a while, most of the stuff I read made Wayne Horning almost sound like a well to do hobbiest, who made a few things. Nothing like setting the record straight for those of us who weren't around to really know what was up. Wouldn't have believed any stories about a cammer motor ever...Thanks.

    Lights down low,

    Soft music on the stereo,

    Candles lit,

    Gl*** of liquor,

    Soft crackling fire,

And the 1954 Wayne Speed Catalog, yeah baby!

Well, I went back and edited the original post and have downloaded the entire catalog in order so you may read it like it was in front of you.

I should have done that in the first place but I wasn't thinking. So if some of the post ask for something that is now at the beginning it was my fault. Sorry.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have.

Dan, I am glad you approve. You must be so proud of your fathers place in history. He had some vision!

    Thanks Mike

Great news Dan, having a much loved car your family was ***ociated with being restored. It shows your dad was right-on when he involved himself in hot rods (street and track), and others appreciate his work. I know I do.

BTW I was given a NOS Wayne Decal whilst I was in LA. Great meeting you too :D

Was checking out page 3, the road racing engine built for the customer in Lima, Peru.
    Quotes:
"Used in Road Races over distances of 3000 to 5000 miles"

"generator was required to operate special headlights and spotlights for night driving"

Veddy interesting .... anyone care to venture a guess?
    Don't sound like the Pan-American to me!:D
