looking for someone with thoughts on windshield and stainless install, owner has bought aftermarket gl*** and rubber, using factory stainless that locks into rubber seal, gl*** guys have been here, 7 times, first gl*** had wrong arch, that was replaced, replacement was 1/8 to 3/16 to tall. so it was sanded, getting closer, rubber fits nicely, keep in mind my question is about the install of the stainless, main question, with gl*** on the stand, rubber installed, and the stainless installed, should the stainless and clips fits perfectly ?... so that when its lifted to the opening , the rubber is pulled over the lip and is installed..... No messing with the stainless when in the truck ? should the stainless and rubber seal be dry or lubed... thanks
the last one we done we put the stainless in and lubed the channel and the rubber with dishsoap and water mixed in a spray bottle as we roped the windshield in. It is easier to set bottom in first then sides and top. this was a 3 person job between pushing on stainless, gl*** and roping the rubber. It is not an easy job.
...those years Chev's are tuff to get in right, mark the w/s and cab at the centers or it'll never go in, guy worked on mine for over 2 hours before he was happy with it, looks great to me,...I broke a used w/s trying to install by myself, let him install the new one. good luck.
