Hot Rods 1955-59 Chevy 3100 picture thread

So, I have a nephew that is 2 years away from driving. My dad has a 1958 Apache (big window) that he is giving him. It's a step side. He is the typical 14 year old, with visions of grandeur. I need some pics to show him to give him inspiration and direction. I'll post pics of our truck, when I get a chance.

I think he is leaning towards something like this.

 

I got my first ride, a '58 Apache when I was 15, so I totally understand your nephew's mindset. That stepside was a great learning experience that has served me well for over 40 years.

Congrats to him on getting started.

This isn't mine, this pic is from the board over at Spotlight Hobbies, but it has lit a fire under me to get another one.

 

Weren't Apaches just '58 and '59?

 

Yeah, the whole group from '55 to '59 were called "Task Force" series.

someone stole the springs out of some of them trucks!

My 59 a couple years after I got it (late 1970s).



my son's 59 when he got it, 2005



Both of these trucks still have their springs intact. But we did take the 4x4 stuff off Gary's truck, it was a not so nice conversion.
