I'm getting ready to paint my 1957 chevy truck and haven't been able to settle on a paint choice. i've got nothing. i've looked at some of the threads on here but nothing has grabbed me. the only thing i can say is there won't be much chrome on this truck and it will be a truckthat's used, not a show truck. White bumper and grill, white mirrors, etc...any pics? suggestions? Thaks in advance.

Are you seriously asking a couple thousand people what color to paint your truck? And asking for pictures? I suggest you sell it unpainted.

Bad suggestion, he asked for ideas not criticism.

yeah badshifter, i was asking people with nothing better to do to post on shit that have nothing constructive to say about. thanks. wow, i'm must have imagined the other 100 or so, "what color suggestions does the hamb have for my car" posts that i've read.
Actually, if you read the post, i was asking for pictures of trucks with white bumpers, trim, etc...to get some ideas. good job.

I did not criticize. I asked two questions and offered a suggestion. What did you contribute?
But to condense the outcome and make you happy... Red, Blue, Black, Green, Gray, Flat Black, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Primer, Run it as is, Paint it whatever color makes you happy, Silver, Bronze, White, Burgundy, Two Tone, Charcoal, Violet, Lavender, Aqua Ice Opalescent, Tan, on and on and on. Yeah.

O.K., if we can get back to the trucks for a minute...

The first one, in the satin rust brown, would also work well with a moss green or British Racing green and cream or off-white grille, bumper, headlight surround.

The one with the white scallops would also work with the grille and bumper painted white instead of chrome.

The last two are a contrast between a red body and a white cap, and then a red body and cap with a white band around the back of the cab.

Good luck with it. Kinky6

Anything besides white or brown or gray. Bright colors look good on those trucks.

The color needs to pop, bright and flashy.
I painted mine similar to Kinky6's upper right side picture.

I always like that "old truck dark green" that they put on them originally. seems like it was more popular on the 47-54's, but a 55-59 would look equally good. ad some original rims and dog dish hubcaps and yer done.

The blue and the green are both stock colors on these trucks and both look good with painted trim. Shiney paint, cream trim, stock color it would look good IMO.
Some times a smart ass is better than a dumb ass when he posts a pic.:D

    Kinky6,

That rust and cream is the shit! I think painting the trim, bumpers, etc...cream definitely gives me a new perspective on choices. thanks!

    Squirrel,

you're right! i remember seeing someone with a 58 or 59 Ford truck that they painted a bright mossy metallic green on the HAMB. i'll search for it. maybe a bright green with the cream trim. i loved that color.

    CMG1973, nice truck
I'm in the proccess of welding in new patchs on my 59 apache. I have been looking at google images (apache PU) insperation. Check google images and you'll see hundres of expamples.
A lot of good looking trucks on there. Like you I will be keeping it as chrome free as possible. I like the look of chrome but not the price of chrome.

Had a lighter yellow truck back in the late 60's that had the grill. headlight rims and front bumper in white. It looked pretty good for it's time. Here my current truck, but chrome this time. Just try to picture the chrome in white.;)
