On my bucket list was to convert my single MC to a dual MC for peace of mind. I have been searching this forum for others that might have done this to get an idea on how hard it might be and where I might get the parts. My Buick does not have power brakes and they work fine now.

After researching and reading comments about the dual MC and just how much braking you have with a brake failure I am beginning to think that making sure my emergency brake is in good working order is a better alternative. Plus, I keep the car completely original.

But I am still interested to know if anyone has done this conversion on a 55 Buick with the master cylinder under the driver's floor board (not under the hood).

Did it to my 55 Special.

Used a 1968 Oldsmobile master cylinder for a drum/drum equipped car.

Had to make the hole larger for the master to go through and drilled a new mounting hole.

Used an adjustable push rod and had to adapter the ports down to the brake line sizes.

    Works GREAT!

I did the same as nailheadroadster on my '55 Special and it also performed perfectly.
