I am working on a 1955 Buick Special project that my grandpa started. He swapped out the original vacuum system for the wipers to an electric motor from New Port. I am at a standstill on how to install the wiper bezel with an electric switch. I was wondering if anyone knew of a bezel that would fit and work on the dash. thank you!
When I put the Newport Engineering motor in my 53 Ford, I used the original bezel with an adapter shaft and switch from Newport. Check with them.
In the instruction that New Port sent it mentioned the original bezel wont work. I ordered the shaft extender but the issue is mounting the bezel to the dash since the vacuum system has been removed. I will post what the original bezel looks like. I am hoping to find something that screws onto the back of the dash.
I was not given the original switch and the whole vacuum system. I took some screenshot of what I could find. Along with some more pictures of behind the dash. The last picture is a threaded hole directly behind the dash hole.
If there is enough meat in the ID of your bezel, then you could open it up a little and shallow thread it. Make a step bushing that threads into bezel. The OD of bushing needs to be threaded so a nut can be used to hold it in the outer dash. The bushing will also need to be hollow for the switch shaft. The electrical switch can be mounted in the inner hole and connected via the shaft extension.
