Oh, I'll be patient; don't get me wrong. Still trying to work out the details on some of the little stuff we discussed.
thanks everyone! waiting on trim from the back window then back to new york! then i have 4 model As coming in .
shaved the rivets on the flippers.stainless is a bitch some times . ruined 1 flipper in the process these are just hanging out in place not tightened up heres the rear window trim as well .4 foot sticks of half moon aluminum!
Im very interested in seeing and knowing the process on welding up the stainless.. I have repaired alot of dents but never holes. or for that matter welded. This opening up a world of ideas with me. I like to see a how too video out of this!! lol
cant give away all my secrets fitzee!!! stainless is a bitch .it likes to move .its thin.you screw up just a taste your buying a new piece .matching rod to the piece you are working on so you dont get a ghost .give me steel any day of the week! thanks johnny!!
when you say match the rods? there is different types of stainless!! very interesting.. so how you match them up!! burn a rod!! nope thats not it!! lol
I did the stainless on my El Camino with stainless mig wire, not the best way, but it's all I got, it was a bitch and I'm not 100% happy at all but I'm gonna live with it until I get a tig machine and skills like young Flop over here.
thanks nads! stainless is one of the most frustrating things ever we will leave it at that onto the rear window trim . quarter moon aluminum will be made to fit the custom shape ted wanted
a little primer over the metal we have a wet ride to new york tonight and tomorrow!! no filler this is just over the metal!!
headed to Teds on the george washintgon bridge back in Teds driveway wrong turn.stuck in the middle of NYC with 50 feet of truck and trailer on broadway Well it was a hell of a project .I learned a ton and Ted is very happy with the new look of his Caddy!! Thanks everyone for all the comments questions etc . Def makes the project more fun and keep the fire going while working on it!
Niiiiice. Wish I knew you were blowing past me I woulda tried to meet up with you to see it in person. Have a safe trip back
thanks gator!! hoboy !! we ran there and back stopped in jersey to pick up some parts then hit the road!! we got back yesterday night !!
Flop and his boys delivered the car on sunday and man i couldn't be happier. the quality of the work up close is amazing. But dealing with Flop has been a total nightmare. Ha!! You know i'm kidding. Flop is the coolest. I wish we lived closer ma man. Play some "Shock Collar Pickup". Love u Flop. hey Mrjynx. we didn't slope the rear quarters because a quarter is about my net worth right now. But i'm playing with this potential paint scheme to add some slope to the rear quarters.
^x2. Horizontal fender, headlight, body molding to scoop, and fin lines. Adding even an illusion of fin slope with paint will end up looking worse than whatever vision is in your head. Just takes one less than stellar design decision to become a pressure point.
This was the original photoshop. I think doing it with paint would be wiser than cutting it up till youve lived with it for a while.
if it doesnt look good with primer paint over it no big deal . hopefully ted posts some pics he sent me car is looking goood!!
