hey this is my gal that Flop is chopping so you know i'm shitfire excited. i have a full game plan for the car. its gunna be a show car after i put a few thousand miles on it. Thinking about driving to the Lone Star Roundup from Brooklyn next year. burning a trail of empty bottles and wanton women. my plan is to add elements that are more nostalgic to 40s cars like the wire wheels, a smaller back window, a putty color paint. And also add elements that give it a bad attitude like the mild chopped roof, tinted glass, blacked out wire wheels, black roof. a little bit like a villain's getaway car from the old comic books. I guess pretty opposite of the traditional kustoms with bright cheerful paint and the white interior. you can see in the pictures attached, I think a slightly smaller rear glass gives it a little more nostalgic feel but also a bit of attitude. The big stock wrap-around rear glass is classy, but i'm going for an overall look that I have planned for this car. And i'm a leather guy, so the interior on this gal will be a showstopper. No gay piping. all hand tooled and hand laced leathers. anycrap. viva le Flop ~Haywire
got the passenger side all in place and somewhat welded in today its taking about an hour and 15 mins to an hour and a half a foot to get it tiged ground filed and hammered. sorry for the crappy pics forgot the nice camera at home thanks again guys!
hey elwood is that your car? could you measure that glass? heres a few pis that didnt post for some reason. this might be some of the nicest sheetmetal work ive done about the only sign of it being welded more pics soon gonna start messing around with some poster board and get the back glass situation figured out
that car is shweeet , always dig the old caddys 55 is to cool , always got a kick out of the gas cap under the drivers side tail lite to
Oh yeah! I´m loving that. I know folks like the wrap around rear screen, but this just smoothes the shape out so well. It does need a decently sized rear screen though. Would a shoebox rear screen be way off the mark do you think? Too curved maybe?
flawless design and flawless work, that why we love you Flop ! i guess somewhere Flop means perfection... no homo !lol!
Glad to see the next cut underway, Flop... Another option for the back glass might be a '61-'63 Imperial Lebaron. Probably not too hard to find. Fairly large width, and really tasteful reveal molding., though might not be flat enough? If you're still looking, I can measure the one on my '62. This one isn't mine, just a random picture...

Love it Flop!!!! Great flow and great work brother!!!! With a much lowered stance it'll all come together perfect IMO!!!
Flop, Not my car. I mined the picture from the classifieds. You might want to send the seller a PM, Link below. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=618735&highlight=1940 I really like the flow. Blind Elwood
thanks guys james the car is person looks very very prototypish kinda crazy how smooth it looks with out the glass. haha thanks Zed a measurement would work todd!i appreciate it!!! correct ian!! when its lowered it will make it all come together for sure! thanks blind i will message him thanks kool and labold i hated the way the orig filler piece for the back window fit.really only about the 3rd or 4th time i used the english wheel so whats a man to do in that situation???,,,,start over please excuse the big triangle hole on the bottom it was a lead seam i forgot to cut out and now will be an ugly mess that will need releaded in.
Not taking anything away from the chop at hand that you're tackling Flop, but the stock rear glass in caddymans car gets my vote..lots of work no doubt.
I just found and read this build to date.... excellent work....i just might consider doing it to the 55 cad that i am going to hot rod! being up here in the great white north of Canada there arent too many of these cars here! lol
thanks alot guys im interested to see what i do with the window myself k13 hahaha well i finished the pass side of filling in the window hole. def wasnt the easiest part to weld in ill tell ya that much plase excuse the mess. this is what happens when i work for some reason a giant cluster .... well you get the point. ya kinda need everything sitting right there when you are sitting on the package tray welding and grinding.
its been a while...some 32 packard stuff was in the shop with a rush put on me sooo had to do it asap . well shaved the drip rails on the 55 got about half way through the other side some old dents that had to come out well off to hershey in a little bit until next time!!
Looks Awesome! Great progress. looking forward to see the Packard taillights taking place of the bulky Caddy ones! Klaus
i'm excited to see the real side vents take shape. will look much better than the stock fake trim vents. the progress looks amazing Flop. The new shape of the rear roof is just perfect. Ted www.BrooklynLeather.com
